About Me

My early childhood began in Congo-Brazzaville, though I don’t remember much from those early years. At the age of five, I moved to the United Kingdom, where a new chapter of my life — and my love for cooking — quietly began.

As the eldest sibling, I often found myself in the kitchen, preparing meals for my brothers. What started as a responsibility soon became a passion — a way to bring comfort, connection, and a taste of home to the people I loved most.

It wasn’t until university that I truly realised how deep my love for Congolese cooking ran. During my first year, I would travel home every weekend just to enjoy a proper home-cooked meal. Eventually, I decided to learn for myself — first from my mum, and later from the incredible women in my family from both Brazzaville and Kinshasa.

Over time, cooking became more than just food — it became a way to honour my roots, share my culture, and celebrate the vibrant flavours that connect us all.

In 2023, while on maternity leave, I began sharing my recipes on TikTok, and within a year and a half, my community grew to over 10,000 followers — all eager to learn more about my dishes and heritage. That encouragement inspired me to create 'The Taste of Congo' cookbook, a heartfelt collection of recipes that represent where I come from and what I love most.

Through these pages, I hope to invite you into that same warmth, flavour, and tradition — one recipe at a time.
